The Tummy Tuck Procedure
Tummy tuck begins with an incision made in the lower abdomen from one hip to the other, creating a skin flap. Next, the skin is separated from the abdominal muscles, which are then tightened by internal sutures, narrowing the waistline and flattening the midsection. The flap of skin is then folded down and excess skin is removed. Lastly, the umbilicus is repositioned and the incision is stitched closed. The entire procedure takes between two and three hours, depending on how much work is needed.

The Liposuction Procedure
Liposuction begins with a small incision in the area to be treated. Next, a thin, hollow tube called a cannula is inserted into the incision and excess fat cells are vacuumed out and discarded. Liposuction is performed on day surgery basis under anesthesia and can last two or more hours.
Recovery after Liposuction
Common after effects of liposuction include temporary bruising, numbness, soreness, and burning sensations, which usually subside within a few days' time. Patients with occupations that do not require strenuous activity should be able to return to work after a few days. Normal, daily activities can be resumed within two weeks. Once the area has fully healed, the patient should notice a firmer, tighter physique.
